FAT Fridaze 2 & other adventures...

I recently finished new banner art (that this teaser is from). I also inked FAT Fridaze Strip 53 (the first strip of my second year of this strip series!! WHEEE!!), but will be taking a break from it to work on something else very exciting!!

I've lived in LA about 5 years now give or take and 3 1/2 of those years have been devoted to the development, creation, collaboration and often fantasy of ripping all my hair out from the stress. This roller coaster has been well worth it, for next week I will finally start the dream job I've been waiting on...

I will finally be working on a cartoon!!!!

A CARTOOOOOOON!!! :D)))

Some people wanted to be Marine Biologists when they were kids (wonder how many stuck with that) others wanted to be an astronaut... I wanted to be a "Cartoonist". At least that was the word I used for it at the time. I felt it encompassed the entire cartoon process: the brainstorming, character design, illustration, coloring, inking, story, script, music, animation, and any other technical aspect I didn't know about. (I didn't really realize that it takes a huge team of people, lot's of money and time to bring all the elements together) Luckily since then I have been working on my own projects and trying to develop all aspects of my childhood idea of Cartoonist. So far I have done all of them except animation and recording music/edtiting etc... and that is something I'm hoping to change this year or next.


I won't be animating but I had the privilege of designing the characters, illustrating and hand coloring everything. I couldn't be more thrilled/blessed!! :)


Thanks so much to Kyle Schember and Wiley Hodgden for giving me this amazing opportunity!! I will work my ass off to make this my best work!!


We have only been picked up for a pilot though, so we will be counting on the viewers to help us get picked up (fingers crossed)

FAT Fridaze Finale

A year worth of comic strips… This Friday May 11th marks the 52nd consecutive All New and Original Comic Strip by yours truly: Daniel Iley.

It has been an exciting year… that is only getting more and more interesting. I have had a blast writing and drawing this series in my free time and look forward to what lies ahead for these characters in the not so distant future.

Spring Cleaning

A few weeks ago something awoke within me and I was able to step outside of all of my projects

I was finally able to flesh out most of FAT Fridaze Year 2's comic strips... that's right... 52 new FF stories!! The awesome part is, while writing the first year I had so many ideas of where I wanted to take the story that most of year 2 was fleshed out.

Also, I am slowly but surely working on Envira III. I'm really excited to see it come to life because it was written over a year ago. Also, it will be a lot more vibrant and dark than the other 2 because it will be colored in Photoshop...

I'm coloring the last comic strip...

It's crazy... I have been working on this project for about 10 or so months and I am finally almost finished with it all... it doesn't seem real.

It has been such a fascinating process... I feel like I know more of what it takes to bust out some work. Having the weekly deadline was really necessary and pushed me to be ahead of the game... at this point I am about 2.5 months ahead... so now I can just work on the cover art and extras for the printed version (Coming This Summer!!) and finally take a little break.

I am beyond thrilled to be printing my own work... this will be a first for me. I am so glad that I have had steady readers on the FF page. Thank you guys so much!! :)

Next up I am already 20 story ideas into FAT Fridaze year 2 (this isn't a Harry Potter thing...I swear) and I have a lot of ideas for Part 2... it's exciting... so much is going to happen to these guys (and girl... and cat) next year!!!

I want to finish up Envira III and also start working on shorts for a graphic novel I have been planning for several years...

I'd like to be productive as possible this year... I hope the world doesn't end... because I have too many story and character ideas...

I finally got to spend a good amount of time on new banner art!!! I'm really happy with the turn out, this is something I was designing for a while and have been editing/coloring it for about 2 months off and on between strips.

Slow and steady...

I'm currently coloring 5 Strips at a time... *_* I must admit I am exhausted and ready to move on to another project, this has been quite the challenge to keep this up... I am excited that I haven't been interrupted yet. I hope you guys like what is happening now... many more twists and turns lay ahead :)
If I weren't publishing this online I probably couldn't have kept it up this long. (I am stumped on a few of the strips but had some really big visual breakthroughs on others) .... Zzzzzz
